CONTROLLER OF SITE SAFETY INITIAL COURSE
Any group going “On or Near the Line” to work or walk must have a COSS appointed to look after their safety. It is the COSS’s duty to establish, monitor and amend as necessary a safe system of work for the duration of their time on Network Rail’s Infrastructure.
Upon successful completion of the 4 day course (5 days if OLP/CRP modules are required), the candidates will be able to interpret correctly the relevant parts of the Rule Book, the Railway Group Standards and will understand the relevant aspects of the Sentinel Scheme procedures appertaining to COSS duties.
They will be able to demonstrate their understanding and ability to set up and maintain a safe system of work before any group of staff are allowed to go “On or Near the Line”.

Failure to bring the required documentation may mean under current rules that you will be unable to undergo the training.
Delegates may not consume alcohol at any time during the course or for 8 hours prior to any training session. Failure to comply will result in immediate dismissal from the course.
